Today Wal-Mart again trends on Twitter.

What is the reason Wal-Mart is trending on twitter today? Wal-Mart is beta testing Thin Mints and Tagalongs, The Girl Scouts of America’s two best sellers. Thin mints account for 25% of all of the Girl Scouts cookie sales. The annual cookie sales are what fund the operation of the Girl Scouts in the United States.

The annual Girl Scout cookie sale is so anticipated they have a website to be able to find your closest Girl Scout council and to keep Girl Scout cookie fans apprised as to when they will be able to order. While The Girl Scout cookies have a higher price that average cookies, the cookies are worth it and the exclusivity of the cookies make them much sought after. However with Wal-Mart copying the Girl Scout cookie recipe and offering *almost as good* cookies year round at the Walmart *every day low price* how long will this continue?

Walmart steals cookie money from The Girl Scouts

Researching this topic today, people who previously enjoyed shopping in their local Wal-Mart’s are beginning to question how much Wal-Mart Stores really do care for the communities they have built into. As someone trying to keep Wal-Mart OUT of my community ~ I feel Wal-mart doesn’t give a hoot for anything except the bottom line.

With Wal-Mart willing to knock off the Girl Scouts two best selling cookies and sell them at prices lower than the cost to the Girl Scout organization itself, how long will this non-profit organization be able to continue with the might of Wal-Mart competing against them?

Having been a Girl Scout as a child and a leader as an adult, I no longer have ANY question Wal-Mart is most evil.

So – with the launch of their newest line of “Great Value” by faking Girl Scout cookies – what is next?
